Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2026

The terms governing access to and use of Grivio Peer Support.

Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using the Grivio Peer Support mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”), operated by Grivio Peer Support Inc. (“Grivio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By creating an account, joining the waitlist, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About Grivio

Grivio is a peer support platform that connects people navigating grief, loss, addiction recovery, caregiving, loneliness, and major life transitions with peers who have shared or similar lived experience. Grivio facilitates connection through tag-based matching, one-to-one messaging, and related community features.

Grivio is a peer support community. It is not a healthcare provider, therapy service, counselling service, or crisis service.

2. Not a Medical, Therapeutic, or Emergency Service

2.1 No medical or mental-health advice

Grivio does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, therapy, or counselling. Nothing shared through the Service by Grivio, a peer supporter, or another user should be treated as professional medical or mental-health advice. Peer supporters are community members sharing lived experience and are not acting as licensed clinicians unless a profile expressly states and independently verifies such credentials.

2.2 Not for emergencies

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, in crisis, or experiencing a medical emergency, do not use Grivio. Call 911 or your local emergency number. In Canada, call or text 988 for suicide crisis support.

2.3 Crisis-resource surfacing

The Service may surface crisis resources during mood check-ins or at other points. This is a courtesy and safety measure only. It does not constitute monitoring, intervention, or a guarantee that Grivio staff will see or respond to an indication of crisis in real time.

2.4 No duty to monitor

Grivio may review reported content, but does not actively monitor every conversation in real time and cannot guarantee it will detect or respond to concerning content before harm occurs.

3. Eligibility

3.1 Age requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service.

3.2 Legal capacity

You represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms and are not barred from using the Service under applicable law.

3.3 One account

You may not create more than one account or create an account for another person without authorization.

4. Account Registration and Security

You agree to provide accurate, current information and keep it updated. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and activity under your account. Notify us promptly at support@griviopeersupport.com if you suspect unauthorized access. You may request account deletion through the Service or by contacting us.

5. The Nature of Peer Matching

5.1 No guarantee of outcome

Grivio may use tags and self-reported information to suggest peer matches. We do not guarantee that a match will be helpful, appropriate, compatible, or safe.

5.2 Peers are not vetted professionals

Unless expressly stated, people you connect with are community members, not licensed professionals, background-checked staff, employees, or agents of Grivio. Grivio does not perform criminal background checks unless it expressly states otherwise.

5.3 Your responsibility

You are responsible for your interactions with other users. Use judgment, protect personal information, and use reporting tools when something feels unsafe or inappropriate.

6. Community Guidelines and User Conduct

You must not use the Service to:

  • Harass, threaten, abuse, or intimidate another person;
  • Encourage self-harm, suicide, violence, or illegal drug use;
  • Impersonate someone or misrepresent identity, age, or credentials;
  • Solicit money, gifts, financial details, products, services, or business;
  • Share sexually explicit, hateful, discriminatory, or unlawful content;
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, disrupt, or compromise the Service; or
  • Use the Service for an unlawful purpose.

We may investigate and respond to violations through content removal, warnings, suspension, or permanent termination.

7. Safety Reporting

Grivio provides tools to report unsafe, abusive, or concerning behaviour. Reports will be reviewed as reasonably practicable, but response times and outcomes are not guaranteed. False or malicious reporting violates these Terms. Reporting tools are not a substitute for emergency services when there is an imminent risk of harm.

8. User Content

8.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of content you submit through the Service, including messages, profile information, and mood check-ins.

8.2 Limited licence

You grant Grivio a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, process, transmit, and display your content only as needed to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Service.

8.3 Your responsibility

You are responsible for what you share. Do not disclose information you are not comfortable sharing with another peer.

8.4 No endorsement

Grivio does not endorse or verify user content, advice, opinions, or personal experiences.

9. Mood Check-Ins and Wellness Features

Mood check-ins are self-reflection and safety-support tools. They are not diagnostic tools and do not constitute clinical assessment.

10. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

11. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, branding, logos, text, graphics, and software, is owned by Grivio or its licensors and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

12. Third-Party Links and Resources

The Service may link to third-party crisis lines, healthcare providers, or informational resources. Grivio does not control and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, or practices.

13. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. Grivio does not warrant uninterrupted, secure, error-free service or any particular outcome from a peer connection, conversation, or use of the Service.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Grivio and its founders, officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the Service or another user’s conduct. Grivio’s total aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of the amount paid to Grivio during the 12 months preceding the claim or CAD $100. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Grivio and its founders, employees, and affiliates from claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms, your content, or your interactions with users.

16. Termination

Grivio may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms, the Community Guidelines, safety concerns, unlawful conduct, or other legitimate operational reasons. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. When changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
